Step 5: Publish a release

Publishing freezes the current values, the receipts behind them, the contract versions they were decided under, and the ranking settings. Withheld records are left out entirely. Releases are numbered and never edited, so an old answer can always be explained by the release that produced it.

Ranking settings are part of the snapshot too. You choose which fields the embedding reads and which fields a “similar to this” result must share. Anchoring on structure rather than wording is what stops a shoulder exercise being recommended as similar to a knee exercise because both descriptions sound alike.

A release is building while its embeddings are computed, then ready. A tool serves whichever release you pinned, or the newest ready one.
